Polls Show Sanders Won - Media Forcing Clinton to Top

No matter what your opinion is as to who "won" the Democratic Debate earlier this week, one thing is clear: The vast majority of the public thinks it was Bernie. Just look around the web - you'll be hard pressed to find a single pole that states differently. So then why is the media saying that "without a doubt...she is the Democratic Party's presidential front-runner" or that the Dem Debate was "Clinton's confident sweep"? In fact CNN posted the article about "Clinton's confident sweep" at 7:31 PST - One minute after the debate had ended. They have since taken down the article, trying to pretend that it never existed. Fortunately the internet is huge evil monster that sees and keeps everything and nobody is safe - even CNN:

This is such a ludicrous article - especially given that the poll embedded into the article at the time showed Sanders leading over Clinton 75% to 15%. Other polls indicate that this was not just an anomaly:

Some polls show the public favored Bernie's debate, followed by Hillary's.

While others go even farther: In this Time poll, Webb was over twice as popular as Clinton and Sanders came in with five times as many votes.

Even on Fox's site they can't hide the truth. In fact their pole is one of the most drastic: Sanders leading Clinton by over six times.

In this poll, the poll data are shown. Votes from 100% of the US show Sanders in the lead.

-------------------------------------------------------------

So why are all of the big news stories touting Clinton's big win? It's obvious: If Clinton wins, they will make more money. They have her under their whips and will do anything to make sure that someone like Bernie doesn't become the next President.

The Polyphasic Sleep Experiment: Days 6 and 7

Ok, so Saturday was an interesting day for my sleeping polyphasicness. Carter and I went to see Bernie, so I missed my first nap by several hours. I was still feeling pretty good though!

I took my second nap at about 8, and then my third nap at midnight. Things were still good. It's nice to know that there's some flexibility when it comes to the nap times.

Sunday was also a bit of a test. I didn't end up having my second nap until 7, and then completely skipped my third nap. I was too busy recording my Bernie song. During the whole process I had copious amounts of energy! It was great! However I started fading around 3am and ended up going to sleep at 3:30. I set my alarm for 7:05, but slept through it until 8:45.

Anyways, it's been a week! Crazy, right? I've gained 24 hours of awakedness since Monday. Pretty cool. Overall it's been pretty great - more time to do stuff and I've felt good for most of the time. There has been some moments of grogginess though. For instance right now I feel like a lost wildebeest. Don't even ask. But I think some of that has come from my utter lack of consistency when it comes to my napping schedule. I'll try to do better, I swear.

There's something really cool about these short naps. Yesterday I was helping dad organize his mail and Carter was making dinner, and then I realized I needed to take my nap. So I did. And still was there five minutes before the pizza was ready to eat. Boom. Also I'm not experiencing any of that awefulness that usually comes with naps. You know the kind where it feels like you just wasted a perfectly good chuck of your day and you wake up and you are like physically angry? Oh, that's just me? Oh. Ok then. Well anyways, no more of that shit.

Ok, I think I'm done. Yes, fully cooked.

The Polyphasic Sleep Experiment: Days 4 and 5

Ok, so after Thursday morning's alarm disaster, I planned on starting over with the schedule I was on before: Core sleep from 11pm-2am, 20-30 minute naps at 7am, noon:30, and 6. However, plans never work out, right? Carter, dad, and I stayed up talking until 1am, so I was way past my 11:00 start time. So I decided to move my core sleep to the morning.

I had been considering this ever since the start of this experiment: Have my core sleep be from 4am-7am and then take naps at noon, 6pm, and 11pm. And that's exactly what I did. I managed to stay up until 4 and then (more miraculously still) managed to wake up at 7. And I felt amazing!

The reasoning behind this new schedule is as follows:
1) It's nice to wake up from the core sleep when it's light out as it helps me wake up
2) Staying up late is better for me than waking up early. I can just keep working on whatever project I'm doing rather than pausing and then trying to resume after my core sleep.
3) Going to bed at 4am is badass.

So I'm back on track now! My naps were consistent and fairly easy to fall asleep into today and now I'm about to head off for my core sleep once again. I still feel a little bit hazy, but I think that should clear up once my body and brain have a few more days to acclimate to the schedule. Most of the web articles about polyphasic sleep made the first week out to be a living hell. I guess I'm just special. Or maybe it's just because I'm young and indestructible. Either way is cool by me.

Awesomesauce. I'm out.

The Polyphasic Sleep Experiment: Day 3

Well shit. I slept through my alarm. Instead of waking up at 3:00am, I woke up at 10:30am. That really sucks.

Lesson learned: always set double alarms! Or maybe just make my alarm have a more annoying sound.

Ok, well time to start again. I'll skip the naps today and start over at 11pm tonight with my 3 hour core sleep.

Yesterday went really well! I felt great for almost the entire day. There was one section in the morning where I felt a bit tired, but it soon passed.

I'm really pissed about sleeping through my alarm though. I just missed 7 hours of productivity!

Oh well. Life sucks, right? ;)

The Polyphasic Sleep Experiment: Day 2

Good morning!

Somehow it's 3:40am. I woke up ten minutes ago. I set my alarm for an hour and ten minutes ago. WAT? Did I seriously just sleep through an hour of my alarm??

Well things are going pretty well besides that! I'm feeling a bit tired now, but nothing that I can't deal with. Yesterday went pretty well too: I got a bunch of stuff done in the wee hours of the morning (writing the blog post, listening to music on my Pono while reinstalling the OS on my laptop, taking out the trash, bringing in the milk, reading, etc.) I took my morning nap right on time at 7:00 and felt great after that.

By the time I was halfway through the morning, however, I was feeling pretty bad. Tired, grumpy, depressed.

Things soon got better though. I went out and did some shopping (no, I didn't end up buying any clam juice...) and returned just in time for my midday nap. Again, I woke up feeling great! Did some yard work, and went and got my first allergy shot.

After I came home I made my maiden voyage into the land of casserole creation with one of the tuna-shrimp-broccoli-cheese-mushroom-onion-noodle variety. While it was baking, I noticed that it was just past 6:00. Time for my nap! But the casserole was in the oven! What to do?!?!?!? Then I looked at the timer: 27 minutes left. I still had time to nap while the casserole was baking. That sorta blew my mind - I could still take my full 20 minute nap while dinner was in the oven. The coolest part is that when I take a 20 minute nap, it takes up exactly 20 minutes. Not 25, not 30; 20. I guess I had it in my subconscious that it would be one of those things that needed prep time or something.

I woke up, ran upstairs, and removed the casserole with 3 minutes to spare. One of the really cool things about these short naps is that I remember almost everything after I wake up. Not quite to the point where I have the same thought in my head that I did when I started napping, but close. None of that "waking up" period that I'm used to after a long night's sleep.

Then I ate, played guitar, played piano, fixed my pannier, watched an episode of Friday Night Lights, blah blah blah blah blah, whatever. Notre dame.

Then I went to sleep, and now here I am writing another blog post. I'm starting to plan things for this early-morning time period. For instance last night when I took a video of fixing my pannier, I intentionally left all of the editing for this morning. There's certain things that just won't fly at 4 am: Playing music, running the chop saw, cooking loudly... That's ok though. Because I definitely don't have a lack of quiet things to do. So the early-morning period is dedicated to working on my computer, reading, listening to music through my headphones, et cetera.

And the hilarious thing is that you all are still sleeping! Ha! Losers! ;)

The Polyphasic Sleep Experiment: Day 1

I've been interested in polyphasic sleeping patterns ever since I first read about them. I mean of course I'd be interested: an extra 4 to 6 hours of time per day to do things and still feeling completely rested? Hells yes!

After reading an article about polyphasic sleep a few months ago, my interest in the subject was reignited. Unfortunately at that point in time, polyphasic sleeping was not a very viable option for me. I was working full time as an electrician: 7:30am to 3:30-4:30pm with a 15-45 minute lunch, depending on the day. Yes, theoretically I could have insisted on taking a half-hour lunch every day at roughly the same time and found some hiding place on the jobsite to go sleep, but I didn't want to look like a complete weirdoface.

Anyways, now that I have quit my electrician's job and am on a much more flexible schedule, I thought I'd give it a try. I looked at the various different common cycles: Uberman, Everyman, Biphasic, and Dymaxion.

I knew I didn't want to do Biphasic, because the time-gain wasn't nearly as much as the rest. Uberman seemed like too much trouble: the naps have to be at the same time every day and skipping even one can make you super tired. Dymaxion seemed like a good option but also a pretty drastic one. So I ended up going with Everyman. It would allow me to keep a fairly regular schedule while also reaping the benefits of a polyphasic pattern.

I decided to make my core sleep be from 11pm to 2am and my three 20-30 minute naps be at 7am, 12:30pm, and 6pm. This way I would still be starting my day at 7:30 and going to bed at 11 - but then I'd have an entire 5 extra hours in the early morning to get shit done.

All of this planning and thinking was done yesterday night at about 1am. I figured that I might as well start right away, so I did. I slept from about 2am until my alarm went off at 5:30, and then the plan was to wake up and start my napping schedule. I ended up falling asleep again before my allotted nap time, but my alarm woke me up at 7:30 and things started rolling.

I missed my midday nap by a couple of hours, but still got it in at about 2:30. My 6:00 nap got pushed back to 8, and I didn't start my core sleep until about 11:45. But overall I think it was a pretty good start. I was able to fall asleep pretty quickly during my naps and felt good throughout the day. I feel bit tired now, but nothing too bad. I'm psyched about all the extra time I'll have!

I'll be posting daily updates on the progress of the Everyman cycle, so come back tomorrow to read the next unbearably exciting episode! I know you will be clinging to your chair in anticipation.

Here, finally, is day 6. Welcome!

Today we went to the Griffith Observatory and took a hike.

That's all, folks!
